HSEEP Training starts in Texas and Oklahoma

Paradigm’s 2019 Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Protocols (HSEEP) have started in Oklahoma and Texas.

These programs utilize localized table-top exercises for pipeline response training, aiming to create a uniform training plan for emergency response personnel.

Through their attendance, first-response agencies complete a portion of their requirements to receive federal grant money. These funds allow communities to coordinate emergency preparedness systems and enhance safety measures. Last year, more than $350 million in federal grant money was available through Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) programs, such as those designed with HSEEP protocols.

HSEEP exercises enhance awareness and knowledge of pipeline safety and the capability to respond to a pipeline incident. These programs enable first responders to pre-plan, network, and coordinate with other local agencies, pipeline operators, and local gas distribution companies to protect life and property.

Designed for first responders, HSEEP exercises provide a set of guidelines for training exercises and consistent terminology for exercise design; and enhance awareness and knowledge of pipeline safety.
